Fall is here and signals the start of one of my favorite things, other than cannabis, and that is Oktoberfest and beer! (Hops are a close genetic cousin to cannabis.)
I visited the Vail Oktoberfest celebration this last weekend, and the lederhosen were out and the beer was plentiful. Party goers were dancing, singing, and toasting to authentic German Oompah bands all weekend long, and the food was fantastic, there was everything from spit-roasted hog, bratwurst to streusel.
Beer was the main attraction, as with any good Oktoberfest, and Munich style beer and good times were flowing. Live bands and Bavarian style dancing were center stage, as were a host of activities for the crowd to get into, like beer Stein holding contests and alpine yodeling. Trust me, it's a blast with plenty of good German beer in you! There are even events and entertainment for the kids.
So pack up the girlfriend, or wife and kids, and go on a drive and partake in the Vail Oktoberfest this weekend.
This last weekend's event was held in Vail Square at the Lodge at Lionshead. The next event will be Sept. 18-20 and will be held in the Vail Village. Summer parking is free at the Vail Transportation Center and it's a short walk to the Vail Village and mall.
